Deputy Chancellor of Justice Petri Martikainen

'Licentiate of Law and Master of Laws trained on the bench, Petri Martikainen (b. 1971), has served as the Deputy Chancellor of Justice since 1 July 2026. 

Martikainen has previously served as the Substitute for the Deputy Chancellor of Justice for a long time (2017 and 2019–2026) and as the Head of the Department for Legal Supervision (2007–2026). Before this, he worked at the Office of the Chancellor of Justice as Senior Legal Adviser (2005), Referendary Counsellor (2005–2007) and Secretary General (2017 and 2019).

Before his work at the Office of the Chancellor of Justice, Martikainen worked as a Senior Lecturer in Criminal Procedure Law at the Police University College (2000–2005) and as a Prosecutor in several different Prosecution Districts. Martikainen has completed his court training at the District Court of Oulu.
